CAMERAderie: Act One – Developing the Short
7-25-20 | 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm PDT
CAMERAderie: Act One – Developing the Short is a two part virtual seminar designed to prepare filmmakers with the practicalities of realizing their vision from script to screen. The workshop will focus on the Women In Media CAMERAderie: Act One guidelines, but will be of value to those who are interested in best practices for producing a short film, with or without the support of our initiative. We will also familiarize attendees with the storytelling & producing guidelines that will help you write a more successful, shootable script. All genders, members and non members are welcome to join us for this seminar, whether you are CAMERAderie Initiative eligible or not.
Topics of review:
Producer Allison Vanore, will discuss how the elements written on the page translate to a producer who must take time and money into consideration. The goal is to have a well-written story that is also producible on a short film budget.
Prof. Idit Dvir will review the basics of story structure and formatting, as well as outline the criteria by which scripts will be judged by our CAMERAderie: Act One judges panel.
About the Presenters:
Allison Vanore is the Emmy Award winning producer of the drama series AFTER FOREVER on Amazon and continues to executive produce for the Women in Media CAMERAderie Initiative.
Idit Dvir is an Associate Professor at Howard University (Washington DC). She has taught screenwriting and filmmaking since 2007. As in the 2019 CAMERAderie Initiative, Idit is the organizer of the first round of judging for CAMERAderie: Act One.

#contestgiveaway ~ One lucky Women In Media member will get a special box from our favorite @doughrectorsofphotography!
Quyen Tran and Jeanne Tyson just (temporarily) closed their bakeathon, making the most gorgeous bread and sweet treats, donating the proceeds to the LA Food Bank. Follow them on Instagram at @doughrectorsofphotography.
They have sold out multiple times, and will start again in a few weeks. In the meantime…. we have the last order (for now!)
In an effort to support them, spread awareness, and show our members some love, we are making a dough-nation of a $50 bread package and sending one lucky winner the bread and cookies or brownie (or what ever the sweet of the day is). But don’t wait for your name to be called on July 25th! Follow them:
