One-Year New and Early Career Membership Initiative

With support from the California Arts Council, WOMEN IN MEDIA is introducing the Activate Impact Initiative, a one-year, grant-funded program available to emerging filmmakers (in any department in pre-production, physical production, or post-production) seeking Women In Media membership and complimentary access to many WiM events.  Included are those who have historically experienced barriers accessing these careers.

There is no fee to apply for this initiative.

One: Apply for Women in Media Pro membership here. You will be asked to share your resume, credits or links to work you have done that show your interest and experiences in TV, film and/or new media production – in any department. Since this initiative is designed to provide an on-ramp for new, emerging, and early career professionals, you can include student work and unpaid work.

If you are accepted into WiM membership, you will receive a Pro Membership Welcome email with a button to pay the yearly dues. Since Activate Impact Initiative approval letters will be sent in January, you will want to bookmark the Pro Membership Welcome email, as it will be lead you to the check out to become a member.

Two: Complete the Activate Impact Initiative application (Applications are closed).

Three: if you are accepted into the Activate Impact Initiative, you will be notified in February 2025. At that time, you will receive a comp code and instructions to complete the processing of your Pro membership.

Four: Your WiM Pro Membership is not active until you complete your CrewList profile using these guidelines.

Activate Impact Badge: Your WiM CrewList profile will bear a special badge distinguishing you as an Activate Impact member, identifying you as a member who is interested in mentorship, upskilling, and forging the future of the entertainment industry.

Note: If you are not accepted into the Activate Impact Initiative, you may still be able to join Women In Media at the Pro Membership rate (contingent upon acceptance to WIM).
