Women In Media members joined us at the state-of-the-art Steadicam Training Facility at the Tiffen Technical Center. WiM Day at Tiffen was a phenomenal time for folks to hang out, practice, and hone their Steadicam moves.  There was also a jib arm courtesy of VR Vets and WiM member, Rachael Hastings.  All participants were welcome to float between jib arm in the parking lot and Steadicam in the training center, or just focus on one or the other.  Delicious breakfast, lunch, and snacks were enjoyed by all. We even had our mascot, Moose the grip cat on hand to supervise.

Steadicam’s head engineer, Rob joined us for lunch to discuss how the rig could be made more comfortable for different body types. He was happy to answer questions about Steadicam from an engineering standpoint as well.

There was a very strong networking and friendship building component. As always, our members bonded over the joy of being the best artist technicians in the business. A contact sheet was sent to participants who opted in, with the suggestion to meet up for coffee or lunch with 3 – 4 new friends (or more!) from the day. This is how we build relationships to hire each other.
