WiM @Tribeca Live and In-Person Reception!

Women in Media was absolutely thrilled to invite the Women In Media Community to the WiM @Tribeca reception. Thanks to those who joined us at Gaetana’s on Christopher Street.  It meant a lot to us to see so many friends who we hadn’t seen in person since before the pandemic. A special thank you to Lauren Flick and Scottie Jeanette Madden for chairing this event.

We honored the above and below the line crews of the Women In Media produced Blood and Glory and Cherry Lemonade shorts. Both films screened at Tribeca 2021.

Find out more about Cherry Lemonade director Aisha Ford here.

Find out more about Blood and Glory director Sati Kaur here.

About CAMERAderie

This special in-person reception for Women In Media members will celebrate how our community is growing and changing the face of the film industry. A lot has happened since we became a 501(c)3 organization in 2017.  Just two years after that historic landmark, we implemented the ground breaking CAMERAderie Initiative. Our first round of CAMERAderie films have toured multiple Oscar qualifying festivals. As a result of our program, our filmmakers have gotten gigs writing for NBC Universal, directing for Blumhouse, and a grant from Spike Lee.  Our below the line crew continue to get hired and recommended by the directors, producers, and keys who worked on these films.

CAMERAderie 2019 supported more than 300 women (and some men!) who participated in on-the-job training, mentorship, panels, hands on classes with vendors, and networking opportunities.  Many crew members were awarded gear and got incredible opportunities as a direct result of the program. Our mentor list included Colin Trevorrow (Writer/Director, Jurassic World), Effie T. Brown (Producer, Dear White People), and Alan Caso, ASC (Cinematographer, Six Feet Under).

We are excited to support our CAMERAderie alumnae as they continue to make us proud!

CAMERAderie 2021

CAMERAderie 2021 LAB is in progress and will shoot in Los Angeles in August. This year will be even more ambitious. We’re partnering with MBS Group to provide training in grip, electric, and carpentry as well as shooting on their sound stages.  Camera and lenses will be provided by Arri. We also plan to shoot on a volumetric stage.
