Local 600 Women and Women In Media teamed up for a day of education, networking, and gear! As contracts get ratified, safety is top of mind. An educated crew is an empowered workforce! Safety Resources can be found here.

12 PM – 1 PM Brunch/Registration/Networking

Union and Non-Union crew joined us for nibbles and networking as well as demos from our vendor partners.

1:00 PM The Buck Stops Here Panel

We discussed who prevents and addresses safety concerns on set. Too often, we see something, say something, and issues aren’t really resolved. The panel answered questions about general safety as well as what you can do if you see something unsafe., Additionally, we will discussed who you can report to, and what your recourse is if the issue isn’t resolved. We will be addressed turnaround time, harassment, working with heavy equipment, long takes, and weapons safety.

3:15 PM – 4:15 PM Contract Services ~ Know Your Resources! Seminar + Q & A

Ensuring that all crew members, whether union or non-union, have access to safety resources is crucial for a successful and secure film production. This seminar will focus on what is available to union and non-union crew. Also discussed were the new trainings that must be completed by the end of 2024 in order to work on union shows.
Tulima Tuanaki – Contract Services Chief Operating Officer

Established in 1965 by the major studios and Hollywood unions, Contract Services is a nonprofit organization with a unique mission. In addition to training a freelance workforce of ~60,000 motion picture production workers through its acclaimed Safety Pass program, Contract Services administers the Industry Experience Roster and performs a wide array of other support services for the motion picture industry. It is also the home of the Industry-Wide Labor-Management Safety Committee, which issues Safety Bulletins and other guidance used by productions around the world.

4:15 PM  – 5:30 PM Town Hall

A variety of union members and experts were on hand to discuss what we as a community can do to ensure better safety on set.
