On April 11th, we hosted a breakfast and panel at NAB entitled How to Get Hired – An Insider’s POV. Members learned from decision makers in different parts of the industry about what they look for in potential hires, qualities and qualifications they want to see when interviewing, as well as what kind of experience you really need to land the job. Their insights into how to improve your chances of getting hired were informative and insightful!

Panelists:

Michael Goi, ASC, ISC has compiled over 70 narrative credits, including films for cinema and television screens such as “American Horror Story,” “Glee,” “Salem” and “The Town That Dreaded Sundown.” He has received Emmy nominations for “Glee”, “My Name Is Earl” and “American Horror Story.” He was nominated for the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Outstanding Achievement Award for the telefilms “The Fixer” and “Judas” and for the pilot “The New Normal” and the mini-series “American Horror Story: Asylum”. He also wrote and directed the dramatic feature film “Megan Is Missing” about the subject of internet predators, and several episodes of “American Horror Story” and other shows.

Michael is a past president of the American Society of Cinematographers, serves on the Board Of Governors of the ASC, and is the editor of the 10th Edition of the ASC Manual.

Linsey Shea is a freelance production and operations manager working in the sports and entertainment fields. Over her ten year career, she has worked in both live event management as well as broadcast TV, managing all aspects of event logistics. Her clients have included the NFL Network, CBS Sports, NBC Sports and Major League Baseball. She has worked on several Super Bowls, Thursday Night Football and March Madness as the lead production manager.

Alicia Robbins is a principal at DrivingPlates.com, a plate company that specializes in 360 capture of driving footage that can be composited or projected in the background for driving scenes for TV and film. Alicia has shot footage for films and television shows such as The Intern, The Post, SWAT, Scorpion, and many more. Alicia has also been involved with 3D filmmaking, working as a rig tech and engineer for films such as Step Up Revolution and Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and is now embarking on the revolution of Virtual Reality filmmaking. She is a local 600 camera operator, having graduated with an MFA in Cinematography from AFI.

Elizabeth Pratt is the Director of Professional Client Development & Support at Canon USA and heads Canon Professional Services, a service and support organization for professional photographers and filmmakers. She has worked in almost all facets of the imaging industry – from film processing and graphics production to leading marketing strategies for Canon.

As the head of two technical and administrative teams at Canon, Elizabeth is working toward balancing gender parity through recruiting and mentoring programs designed by the company’s human resources department. Her efforts also include helping Canon identify opportunities that benefit the company while making a true impact on the advancement of women in photography, film, & television.

Shelley Andagan is the Head of Post-Production & Operations of 3DPaint/FX. Shelley directs and manages the company’s worldwide workflow processes and personnel while also coordinating strategic planning and brand alliances. She managed the completion of over 20 VR projects including The New York Times Magazine’s “Great Performers” 9-film noir collection, SHOAH Foundation’s “The Last Goodbye” interactive experience, National Geographic’s “The Protectors” film, and USA Network’s “Mr. Robot” VR Experience. Prior to this role, Shelley spent over a decade in feature film & television development, production and post-production with major motion picture studios and independent producers alike. Her “flattie” credits include projects such as: Disney’s “Jungle Book”, New Line Cinema’s “San Andreas”, Marvel’s “Iron Man 3” and “The Runaways”, 20th Century Fox Television’s “Prison Break”,  “World Trade Center,” “Becker” and “Star Trek: Enterprise” at Paramount Pictures.
