Hailing from Wichita, Kansas by the way of Quito, Ecuador, Emilia Mendieta Córdova is an Ecuadorian-American Cinematographer. She has an MFA in Cinematography from the AFI Conservatory and a B.A. from Vassar College. She was a Altitude Awards 2022 semi-finalist.

Emilia has shot numerous short films including the award-winning sci-fi CODE_SWITCH and completed three feature films including Mark S. Allen’s directorial debut AMY’S F**CK-IT LIST. She has also shot over ten award-winning music videos with Charley Young, and has produced, directed, and shot promos for ABC10.

Emilia has experience teaching cinematography at USFQ and UDLA in Ecuador. She also previously worked as the Cinematography Coordinator at the AFI Conservatory where she helped run the Visual Essay Program and the Cinematography Intensive for Women Program.
Emilia is multilingual (English, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese), a classically-trained cellist, amateur Astrophotographer, culinary arts enthusiast, and a massive Star Wars fan. She is also an FAA Certified Drone pilot.
