Sandra Valde-Hansen holds an MFA from the prestigious American Film Institute. Valde-Hansen has over fifteen independent feature credits, including After Everything, directed by Hannah Marks and Joey Power, which was released this Fall and Social Animals, directed by Theresa Bennett, released by Paramount Pictures.
Valde-Hansen has collaborated with indie darling director Gregg Araki for the last decade. KABOOM, her first collaboration, premiered at Cannes and Sundance, distributed by IFC Films. WHITE BIRD IN BLIZZARD, starring Shailene Woodly, premiered at Sundance and was distributed by Magnolia Pictures. Her most recent collaboration was Araki’s STARZ! television series, NOW APOCALYPSE, executive produced by Stephen Soderbergh.
She resides in Los Angeles. When she is not shooting, she teaches in the cinematography department at AFI and watches movies with her 5-year old daughter, Mazzy.
