Charise Sowells graduated early from Orange County School of the Arts, worked full time for a year to save money for college, and then earned a BFA in Dramatic Writing at NYU's Tisch. Graduating with academic honors and awards for her scripts, her thesis play, (562), had two concert readings at the Rita & Burton Goldberg Theater. It was later adapted into a feature film.
After years of working in TV and Film production in NY, Sowells moved to LA. She took playwriting workshops at the Robey Theater Company and managed a theater. Then she toured the country in a band and ran a music blog. She has been featured by SF Weekly, Ukulele Magazine, NPR and on several blogs and radio stations around the world. Her Lake Lady single, "Mr. Fantasy", was selected as 2017's Song of the Year by Jonathan L Radio in Berlin.
