My fondest memories growing up were sitting on the couch and playing New Super Mario Bros (2006) with my mom, dad, and sister. Now as an adult, truly understanding how busy and chaotic life is, it was a truly special feeling to be able to complete the whole game with my family. Sure there were tears when my mom or dad didn't save me from dying by popping me out of a bubble as I floated off-screen (poor them, they were trying their best), but I simply truly remember the excitement of playing and finishing each level together.
My interests came and went throughout the years -- but my passion for games never left. As I got older, I continued to turn to video games for entertainment. I also started to learn about the storytelling capability games had. I had always loved reading and writing growing up, and my mind was blown when I actually got moved to tears at the ending of some games. I thought games were just about mashing buttons, and they totally can be, but they can also be for really immersive storytelling.
To this day, some of my favorite video game characters, moments, and songs still influence my day to day life. My ethics, dreams, and motivations... all of them are shaped by what I've experienced while holding a console or sitting behind a computer. This may sound silly to some, but to me, it makes video games feel almost like magic. I want to write for games and let others experience this magic I've felt.
As a graduate of Loyola Marymount University, having double majoring in Film, TV, & Media Studies and Screenwriting, I put a lot of time into studying and creating for stories on the screen. Not only this, but as a queer woman, I hope my perspective can help create an even more inviting environment for women and LGBTQ+ gamers and for those in the industry as well.
With my knowledge of storytelling gained inside and outside of the classroom, with internships at production and marketing companies, game jams, and freelance work, I am able to write pitches, character bios, treatments, game design documents/concept sheets, and screenplays with detail and care. I also have over 5 years of experience providing other writers on both the academic and professional level with detailed and meaningful notes for their various writing projects.
Thank you for stopping by! If you've read to the end, I'd love for you to tell me what your favorite game is.
