Akshaya Sawant is a multimedia artist from Mumbai, India. She received her Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts with a major in painting. After graduating, she studied digital filmmaking and worked as a cinematographer and editor in Mumbai while freelancing as a photographer, graphic designer, and performing artist. She has interned for the internationally acclaimed film Ship Of Theseus, Agency09, Boston Children's Chorus, HubSpot Academy and WGBH, Boston. She is a recipient of the Dean’s Fellowship at Emerson College, Boston. Her film Price Of Patriarchy has received ‘The Virgin Unite Social Impact Film Fund’ and was a semifinalist at ‘The Gucci Tribeca Documentary Film Fund 2018’. She is an active member of International Documentary Association, Women In Media and The D-Word.
